If there is so little of Jesus’ story in the letters of Paul, does this mean that Paul’s ministry has set aside the focus in the story in favor of direct theological instruction? Was Paul not interested in the story of Jesus?

One thing can be said of Paul with absolute sureness: after his conversion, he was apprehended by Jesus. His values were turned upside down; he now considers everything as a loss because of the “supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Phil 3:8). This “knowing” is not just focused in Jesus revealed to him as the Son of God. Paul must have been interested in the historical event that was fulfilled in Calvary. He must have been attentive to the story of Jesus, to the things that were told to him about how Jesus lived and preached.
