The Spirit of the Lord descended upon Jeffrey Khongsni, the first vocation from the North-East India to our congregation, when His Grace Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati placed his hands upon Jeffrey in prayer during the Ordination to Diaconate held on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul at 6 pm in our community auditorium in Guwahati. In his homily, the Archbishop reminded the candidate of the duties and the rights of a deacon, and exhorted him to carry out his responsibilities with the faith, the love and the zeal of saints Peter and Paul.

The concelebrated Eucharistic celebration was attended by Fr Michael Raj, the Provincial Superior; Fr Thomas M J, the Director of Formation along with many other  Paulines, clergy, religious, friends and well-wishers of Br Jeffrey and those of St Pauls, and of course Jeffrey’s family members. Fr Francis Dalmet, the superior of the community and MC of the day welcomed the gathering and saw to the meticulous execution of the day’s programme. The newly ordained deacon thanked the gathering for their help, support and prayers which made this solemn day possible for him. The celebration ended with a short felicitation and fellowship meal.

Congratulations, dear Jeffrey, and we wish you a fruitful diaconate ministry!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and sight to the blind; to free the oppressed and to announce the Lord’s year of mercy” (Lk4:18).
