Sunday, October 19, 2014 will go down in the history of the Society of St Paul in Nigeria as Br George Augustine was ordained a deacon by His Lordship Dr Calistus Onaga, Bishop of Enugu, in the presence of Most Rev Dr Anthony Gbuji, Bishop Emeritus of Enugu. The ordination ceremony took place in our parish, Holy Innocent Catholic Church, Nchanttancha Nike. Members from all our communities, Daughters of St Paul, Priests from neighboring parishes, brothers and sisters from the various religious houses and the parishioners attended the ceremony.
In his homily Bishop highlighted the duties of a Deacon. He also appreciated the Paulines for the ministry they do in the diocese. Rev George Augustine captured the hearts of the Bishops and the people by speaking in Igbo in his thanksgiving. The singing of the parish choir was melodious. The newly ordained deacon was congratulated and felicitated after the Eucharistic celebration. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal.
