SPICE Journalism seminarBandra, Mumbai. ST PAUL INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION EDUCATION (SPICE) organized a short SEMINAR for the would-be journalists on PRINT, BROADCAST AND ONLINE JOURNALISM on 10 June, 2013, in the Alberione Hall, St Pauls Media Complex, Mumbai. The main theme for the seminar was ‘Redefining the Role of Journalists.’ The resource persons for the same were: Carol Andrade, Editor, Afternoon Despatch & Courier, Mahrukh Inayet, Course Director, Studio Talk & Editor-at-Large, Headlines Today, Rajeev Masand, Film Critic, Television Journalist, Shashi Baliga, Executive Director, Literature Live!, Former Editor, Filmfare.

A good number of journalists from the metropolitan city of Mumbai, students from some of the communication institutes, students who aspire to take up journalism as a profession, lawyers and people from other walks of life attended the seminar. The talks by the panelists were really inspiring and stimulating and the discussions and interactions that followed the talks were very lively. Even after the formal conclusion of the Seminar in the hall, informal discussions and sharing on the theme continued as the participants were walking down the stairs, in the dining hall where a light refreshment was served for all by the community. The Director of the Institute, Fr Shaiju Joseph, informs that similar seminars, panel discussions, debates etc. on media related subjects will be a regular feature at SPICE from this scholastic year.
