Fr Gilbert Kannikatt, SSP, the new director of North East Social Communications, (NESCOM) Guwahati, has successfully organized a two-day Media Workshop which was his maiden initiative after assuming the new responsibility as the Director of NESCOM. The response was indeed overwhelming. The Workshop was at the Social Forum, Guwahati. The programme on 28 & 29 May was attended by 55 participants – priests, sisters, brothers and lay faithful – representing 21 institutions of North East India. The first day of the workshop focused on a training programme on print media and the second day on new media, including social networking.
The resource persons of the programme were Fr Joe Eruppakkatt, SSP, General Editor, ST PAULS/BYB Mumbai, for print media, and Mr Michael Periya from Hyderabad, for new media. The topics covered in the two-day workshop included: Websites, Process of web design, Social media, How to apply the social media in the proclamation of the WORD, etc. Through lectures, class assignments and video and power point presentations the resource persons motivated and trained the participants in the use of media for evangelization.
