T hursday, September 16 began with the Eucharistic celebration for the Feast of SS Cornelius and Cyprian, “generous pastors and intrepid martyrs”. We prayed especially for the “Jesus Priest” Institute and continued during the day to host various speakers, to engage in lively debates and to ensure that these proceedings were properly recorded. Our speaker at the morning session was Fr. Juan Manuel Galaviz who impressed us with his detailed work on “The Pauline Institutes of Consecrated Secular Life and their place in the Church and in the world according to the Code of Canon Law and our Statutes”. Fr. Galaviz pointed out that those Paulines are not members of a Secular Institute but are “a work proper to the Society of St. Paul and aggregated to it”. However they are analogous to the Secular Institutes to the extent that they are of a secular nature and have consecrated members. The presentation of Fr. Galaviz was followed by a brief debate after which delegates divided into groups to study the formative methodology and in particular, the relative formation plan applicable to our Institutes. They took into account results, challenges and supportive materials involved in the formation of Paulines of consecrated secular life. In the afternoon Fr. Domenico Cascasi, Delegate to the “Jesus Priest “ Institute, gave the delegates a detailed study of this Institute from the historical and charismatic point of view. He underlined especially “the extra advantage that membership of the Jesus Priest Institute offers to the Diocesan clergy.” To conclude our busy day we came together in the presence of the “true and eternal Priest who first offered himself as a victim for our salvation, as food to give us strength, blood and drink which redeems us”
